its cheap, it can flex really well, but stability is not its strong suit. i would not want to drive a flex 1/4 elip setup on the road. and if you do it right, and get springs made to be cut in half like that (rather than just cut apart a normal factory set), the price isnt that great. you need additional locating devices, like a 4 link as well.
IMO it was a fad in the early '90s. It was big around here 'cause Avalanche Eng was really into it at one point. I guess maybe they're still used somewhat, but I think it's stupid. Since you still need all the locating devices as mentioned, might was well just run coils.
