Well, finally got the time to get into the truck again. Wife and kids are in Florida :thumbup

I had to get the base of the cage supported in the rear, since what was there was really not the finished product due to rust. I cut the crap out and welded down 12"x30"x3/16 plate on each side to support the base mounting plates a little more securely.

Now, as fate would have it, the wife and kids are gone. So of course that means the weather here has to be shitty.

I wake this morning to find it snowing...ugh. Some friends were over 'till about 1:45 last night :drinkbud , so I was a little slow getting moving this morning. I run outside in my boots and a t shirt to rig that contraption up so I can work on the rig :rockon

This .. turned into

This, with the grinder

and this

turned into this

then I welded in some 1.5x1.5 angle iron to support the load of the cage

which eventually turned into this

So, all in all and pretty productive day I guess :toothless

i got to do the same thing, but mine isnt as bad, most of it is from the rear spring hanger that broke and is resting on the floor board

nice
in the last pic, how are you goinf to fill the voilds of the raides bed area, i see you only welded on the top of the ridges, but now there is a gap between the to raides areas.
You still have that carpet back there?

Who's taking the pictures?
get a gas hookup on that thing. you will have much better welds with gas

when i did mine i pounded the metal down close enough so that you could fill the gap easily with weld.

I will be cutting small pieces of the 3/16 to fit in there and then weld

no, that is the carpet from the cab

I here ya Bro .. not too sure where to go for it, but don't have the money for a tank now .. I will eventually be going full on and when thhat times comes I will do the research to find it :thumbup ......... since what I am doing now is not a "cosmetic" thing it is a perfect place to practice on understanding voltage and wire speed settings :toothless
