My bronco sat around for a couple of months, I know disgraceful. I went to start it and got about 1 revolution out of it and no more. My starter is free spinning but I can hear just a little contact with the flex plate. I think the gear is hanging up on the shaft but dont know how to check it without pulling the starter. Any tips here? Thanks.

1st and foremost you need to make sure you have enough battery voltage. A weak battery will cause the condition you describe. If you have a good battery and it is not engaging into the flexplate/flywheel you need to either replace the starter drive or buy a new starter.
