I'm confident about finally installing my zip locker into my 10.5. The only thing that is confusing me at this point is adjusting the pinion depth. The kit comes with shims that are placed under the inner race to adjust the pinion depth. Would it make sense to sand the old race to get an approximate pinion depth measured so I can remove it by hand in case I need to use the shims? I just don't want to pound in the new race only to have to remove it again and possibly damaging it or is this the only way? I've read randy's diff guide, yukon's installation instructions and all over the internet but still unclear.

edit:

Also after reading bill vista's guide for the 20th time I saw mention of reusing the old inner pinion race. I haven't compared the old and new race yet as far as measurements are concerned.
