I sometimes hear a faint scratching noise when I'm driving down the road at speed. I've looked under to see if there was a branch or maybe if someone zip tied me but don't see anything on the drive shafts. It's not loud. I don't think it increases or decreases with speed. I'm kinda dumbfounded on it.

For those of us from the 70's and older, the best way I can describe the sound is it's alot like the beginning to Jimmy Hendrick's Voodoo Chile, only without the guitar riff.

Any ideas?

have you checked to make sure the wheel well liners are all screwed in still? a loose one could move enough to cause something like that.

your not leaking gear oil are you?????? i had the same type noise and it was something in the rear. it would make the noiuse will driving at speed above 10mph's. i check gear oil and it went away. not sure if it was the limit slip making the noise or what, but its gone now.

I don't think so but I'll give it a look. The differential looked dry the last time I checked it. I've got a 3.08 open diff so I don't have to worry about the clutch packs
