89 Custom, never do any heavy wheeling. Truck runs good. No knocks or clunks.

Now - using Low in rough weather, the transfter case gets stuck in 4 x 4 Low! Transmission is in neutral, when using lever to change range setting.

Would adding something like Lucas or using synthetic ATF in the transfer case help? I've heard about having to "rock" the truck. Anyone had this? Is it just cold?

I did finally get it out, after a complete warm up, driving 10 miles at 35mph.

hey make sure your linkage isnt bent or loose. Also make sure you have fluid. A bent shifter rod can screw up your hole day. and make switching from 4lo to 2wd a real PITA!

and ensure the lever is not dirt encrusted

Chances are the shifter lever bound up from rust making the movement past neutral. Was it hard to get in?

Mine does that too sometimes, I rock the truck a little bit while pushing on the lever and it pops out but I have a stick It'd be kinda hard to do that with an auto
