If you can't open it, probably a one of the rods that connect to the handle busted.

If the tailgate is stuck closed, then it is a PITA to get in there and work on the internals. You'll need to clean out the back of the truck and pop off the access panel from the inside. Make sure you bring adequate lighting.

The good news is I recently gutted the tailgate of my parts truck, so whatever you did break, I probably have a replacement for you. :thumbup

I think I just ran into this same problem. When I pull on the handle the right latch opens, but the left(driver's) side stays latched. So you guys think that it's just a rod that came disconnected?

most likely take it apart and take a look!

the mechanism also gets bent, from people trying to open the latch when the window safetly is engaged.

it can be fixed, by pulling the mechanism and re bending it back in place. though, you have to pull it.

OR a rod/plastic clip broke. that is much easier to fix.
