Search didn't pull anything up, I've got a 90 5.0 bronco. My guage always stays on the cool part, so I want to hook up a mechanical autometer gauge I have.

The only temp sender I see is on a post coming up near the upper radiator hose. However, I unplug it, and the temp gauge doesn't go down, so I suspect that may be the feed for the computer?

What is the location of the gauge temp sender unit on the 5.0's? Thanks!

Look around the base of the distributor. The dash gauge sender will have a single wire coming off of it.

The sensor you were messing with is the one for the computer.

I wanted a more accurate guage than stock, but hate having a dead guage in the dash, so I mounted the aftermarket sender in the thermostat housing. Not all housings have this port so you may need a different housing or you can drill and tap yours.

Thanks! It was completely hidden by grease...got it replaced and my temp gauge works proper now, so I don't need my autometer gauges
