I am going to replace the Tail Gate on my Bronco before snow falls. BUT
How would you remove the rivets that hold the glass to the regulaor without making little bits of glass? Drill? Grinder?

Also what to use for replacements?
I've heard to use 1/4" x 1 1/4" bolts and Stainless Nylon Lock Nut?

Anyone do this yet agree or disagree?

I've always heard to use a drill to get them out. and the nylox should work good to re-attach them....Might call a glass shop and see what they recommend doing....But I know Haynes says to use a drill---Fog

I always use a 1/4 drill bit you wont hurt nothing unless your accedent prone. To re-attach I use 1/4 rivets like it had if, you dont want to spend 100+ bucks on a rivit gun for 1/4 rivits just use 1/4-20 bolt. I would choose to double nut rather then use a nylon nut its just easyer to deal with and works better.

btw have you ever tryed to break a hardend car window? When i worked in a body shop i saw a guy drop one from over his head it landed on the ground and bounced tuff stuff until you put lots of pressure on a small area.

For those that do this.....

1.25" long bolts are TOO LONG!
double nutting is TOO LONG!

I would have bought new 3/4" long 1/4" bolts but I used the cut off wheel instead :toothless

Remember always use stainless bolts and nuts :thumbup

I'll take some pictures later
