So I had an idea that I thought would be good. We post places that we have had work done, bought stuff from, or heard they are a good place to deal with business.

Being from Connecticut I will place the names of the shops/stores that I have delt with as well as websites and city location. This will make for an easy place to find good work.

General Mechanic:
Autowize in South Windsor, CT
---Been dealing with Mark (owner) for years, very trustworthy and not a typical scamming auto shop.

Leaf Springs and U-Bolts:
Hartford Super Spring Hartford, CT
---Old shop in Hartford. Great work, you can have custom leafs made up, U-bolts made while you wait at a great price. The customer service was awesome,+CT&cid=11094474866905802105

Off Road Shops:
Rory's Off Road Supply- Ellington CT
---A decent place to order stuff from, they also do custom work and fabrication. I have never delt with them, but have heard some good things about them

Banditt Off-Road-Enfield CT
---They are more geared to Jeeps, but they do custom work. I am going to have a bumper built by them. A friends friend owns it. They are knowledgeable people, and true off-road enthusiasist
Im not sure what happened to their website, but here is their Facebook page

CT Driveshafts-Milford, CT
---I heard these are the people if you need a new driveshaft, or a custom one (shorter or longer). I am going to them when I need it done.

No website but the address is:
470 Naugatuck Ave., Milford, CT 06460

Fleet Pride-Hartford, CT
---If you need U-Joints, this is the place. They have every make and model. The customer service is lacking, but if you need some u-joints quick and easy, this is the place to go.

Axles and Gearing:
CT Axle Services- Ellington, CT
---This is the most recommended axel place around. They do gears, lockers, whole axels, rebuilds. You name it, they probably can do it if it regards axels. There prices are good, right in the price range of everyone else

Coutus Truck Junkyard-Willamantic, CT
---I have gotten alot of stuff from this place, it isn't a pick and pull. You call ahead ask if they have what u need and they get if for you. I have gotten a few things from them and have been very happy with them.

Now, if everyone else can contribute, maybe we can make this a sticky so us Northeasters can all get stuff done at the right places. Maybe the other sections will catch on and make them too:thumbup

So please post
1) What field of work
2)Company name
3)state and city
4)contact info (website, address, phone number):thumbup

I usually frequent junkyards myself and for older vehicles a good jy find can go a looong way. These are the ones I usually frequent myself. If you know of one to add but don't feel like posting, feel free to email me and I'll edit my list and credit with the find. So here's a list of them in:

Crazy Rays (U-pick type)
Multiple locations with a large stock and fair prices for the most part

EZ Pickins (U-pick)
One location in middle river, md
Same prices as Crazy Ray's only smaller selection but vehicles tend to stay longer
216 Earls Road
Baltimore, MD 21220

Vince's Auto Parts

Cannot pull your parts yourself, but the parts tend to be a higher quality albeit at a slightly higher price. Can call ahead to check stock as well.
11237 Philadelphia Rd
White Marsh, MD 21162

New York: Long Island
Colvin Auto Parts
Babylon turnpike in Merrick.
The best parts store in the universe. true jobber will find you anything but will most likely have it in stock. full machine shop, will make you anything (they have welded a few sockets together for me to make them longer for the bronco for my impact gun. Full autobody supply too also mixes custom rattle cans. This shop has saved me countless times.

Bryans Auto in Rockaway. ask for Bryan and tell him your scuba toms friend (my nickname). He has been my fathers mechanic for 20 years and now a very good friend of mine. He has basically replaced / repair every part of my fathers 3 broncos growing up.

Rims and Stereo
Precision Installations in valley stream. been going there for over 10 years. They have done 5 systems for me and 5 or 6 sets of rims. clean work and fair prices.

Huntington Transmissions, huntington long island. ask for Justin. good friend and he rebuild my e4od, 20k miles so far of me beating the piss out of it and all good.

In Danbury, CT:

Extreme Vehicle Builders, aka JD's Offroad
44 Kenosia Avenue
Danbury, CT 06810

They do everything offroad related - installs, service work, custom vehicle builds as well as just selling parts.

The owner is Jim Daley, and he's a great guy who knows his way around. He's done a whole bunch of Bronco related work that has been published.

Quick link to his published work:

Parts Authority: They have locations all over LI and Queens. They usually have lots of ford parts in stock and have better pricing than most parts houses.

K&B Transmission - Floral Park NY.
46 Cherry Street, Floral Park, NY 11001-1611(516) 352-0272‎
Don't let the name fool you - they do it all and they stand by their work.

TNT Conversions - Bohemia, NY. Out on the island but worth the trip. They do a lot of lift work but rebuilding axles is their bread and butter.
