I am thinking about getting into Ham radio (Mainly just thinking as I am so busy most of the time). But there is a guy on CL around me selling off his dad's old stuff (Estate sale kinda thing). I asked him what he had and he sent me the following list. Is there anything in there that would be good for someone who is thinking about getting into ham (Price worth would be helpful), or is it junk. I really don't know much about hamThanks for the help.

I wouldn't expect any major deals, since he the tools he has posted are kinda high, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I want to note that I have never met, and thus don't have any idea if he is a worthless scammer, or Jesus himself (Well pretty sure he isn't Jesus).

Most HAM equipment does not depreciate very much, unless it's a turd. Check out www.eham.com, www.hamradio.com and www.gigaparts. The last 2 are for current pricing and the first offers hardware reviews to help determine if it's good or well known.

We already said the D104s are good, that Mirage amp is probably the 310G, not a 10G, which is a decent amplifier. I've thought about getting one because my 2m base antenna was about as good as it gets (the 13B2...coulda gone 26B2 but not much more gain).

That switching power supply is also a handy thing to have. Those things are UBER light.

Ham radio is more expensive because it's worth it. After you use a FM ham radio you'll be totally pissed off at how crappy your CB is.

There is one decent use for a CB on long road trips - the truckers are usually pretty good about shouting out where the State Troopers are hiding. Saved my butt a few times from a face-to-face meeting with 'em.
