My 1986 351HO is running slightly rich and backfiring because of it...this means i am too advanced? or to retarded?

and do i turn the dizzy clockwise to advance, or counter...

Thanks...my mustang is gonna poop out on my i think, so i need to get the truck in running order for a few months of daily driver...thinking of buying the middle east for some extra fuel.........

Clockwise to advance... but I would pull codes. It could be the O2 sensor.
