i'm a little confused at the difference between metric-measurement and inch-measured tires.

my tires right now are 285/75/16. when you convert that to inches, it comes out to a 32.83'' diameter of the tire.

compare that to a 32x11.5x15 tire....

the second tire will be slightly wider (11.5'' vs. 11.2'') and slightly smaller in diameter (32'' vs. 32.83''), but have a larger sidewall (15'' rim vs. 16'' rim)?

Theoretically.. that's correct, but the only way to get the ACTUAL dimensions of the tire is to get it from the manufacturer.

That 31" tire might actually be 30.8", or even 31.5" in diameter.
Same for the tread width, and sidewall height.

Most if not all tire manufacturers list the actual dimensions of their tires on their websites.
