I am ready to reassemble my new tailgate. I got new torque rod brackets, but looking at the diagram on Steve83's site, it looks like the torque rod has a right angle bend at each end. Mine only has the bend on the end that is bolted to the body by the hinge. The other end has a grove in it. Is this a different setup for my year, or is it broken?

It is definately broken. JBG has them for $70. Other then the bone yard, is there any place cheaper (looked on EBay).

I would just leave it out.........they have been known to come loose from their brackets and bust out the rear glass as your lowering the TG.

I took it off the TG on my 94 and I was just fine with the extra weight of the TG. That dam TG is heavy though......it will surprise you the first time you have to lift it to close it!

In any case......I would not put it back in.
