Im moving from S. Texas to Tuscon, Arizona, and Im trying to find a way to get my bronco (the one in my avatar) up there with me. Im already renting a 22' moving truck, but the rental place says that their car carriers cant support my truck (even with smaller tires). Anyone know what I can rent/buy for cheap to tow it up? BTW this is a one way trip, so if its a rental, I need to be able to drop it off in Tuscon, AZ.
Thanks!!! :thumbup

What rental company are you using?

It will fit on a Uhaul, or Penske trailer, they will tell you it is too big. Some people tell them they are towing a Bronco II.

If you can pick up a used trailer, do it, and resell it when you get to your destination.

Have it shipped.

See if a friend/relative will drive it out there if you get arrange for them to get home.

Put the smallest tires you can on it and put it in the back of the truck.

I used Budget. I told them I wanted to tow a 79 Bronco 525 miles. They said it weighs about 5300lbs and it will be no problem. It fit on the tow dolly with 31" tires. I disconnected the rear driveshaft at the rear yoke and I duct taped the ujoint caps on and bungied the shaft to the frame rail. I had no problems. Budget rentals was the only one I found that would let me tow it. Uhaul and Penski both would not allow it. I have rented from Budget 3 times now. I even rented an Eddie Bauer Explorer over the 4th of July and put 1400 miles on it in 5 days for a mere $315. It was nice not having to be concerned about driving my old vehicles that far. Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.

Yeah, I talked to budget and they were the only ones who said it was no problem. However, they do not do "one ways" from where I live to Tuscon. The only other company here that I trust is Penske. Ill probably just give them the Bronco II line. The interior is stripped and Im putting the smallest tires I can get for cheap (dont have the stock ones anymore :doh0715:) so Im sure itll be fine. Ill be driving VERY conservatively too. Thanks!!!!:thumbup

In TX you can pick-up a 16' flatbed trailer (new) for a pretty good price, and you can sell it when you get to AZ, and most likley the loss you would take on the trailer is less than the rental expense for one.

About 6 years ago I moved from Fort Lewis, WA to Fort Leonard, MO and at a trailer rental was going to cost $450, though I was able to buy a trailer for $1600 with the plan of selling it in a year. Never sold it though it's paid for itself several times over.
