I just put in my transmisson this weekend. finished it up this morning. I go to take it out for a test drive and it dosnt shift until you get it up to high rpms and let your foot off the gas then hit it again. is there some kind of linkage adjustment i can tinker with. or did i do somthing wrong.:banghead

its a 1989 eddie bauer
automatic overdrive

and yes i reconnected the modulater
it just donsnt shift by it self you gotta let go of the gas and then hti it again for it to shift
feels like yuor driving a manual but without a clutch:doh0715: :doh0715:

im guessing its a aod, idt there was the e40d in 89

There's no modulator on an AOD. It's all controlled by the throttle valve cable. Did you remember to connect it, and is it set properly? If not, you may have already caused a LOT of damage.

i dont know if im talking about the same thing you are. im talking about the plug with all of the little prongs in it on the side near the top of the trans.
