What is this piece that the arrow is pointing at? My tranny overheated a little, and now it leaks from this plug/seal. I can't find what it is in my chilton manual, nor how to remove and fix this. This is a 93 bronco with a 351 and e40d

So I need to drop the tranny to access this seal, or can I get a new plug and put it in there after draining the fluid? Forgive my ignorance. The plug shimmies around and is loose.

the plug itself does nothing but keep dirt out...its not a drain hole persay it is more of an inspect hole. the seal he is talking about is located between the trans and motor, and yes the trans needs to come out to replace it.

So this seal will keep the plug from leaking? Because that is where the leak is coming from.

Thanks for the replies btw, much appreciated.
