Having an issue.. 96 5.8..Push button 4x4 works fine. One click on module behind kickplate and its engaged.. Shift to neutral push 4x4low and module clicks multiple times. I hear a klunk as if its locking in 4 low. But 4x4 light goes out and im back in 2wd... it sure sounds like actuator is doing its part.. but idk... any advice.. tested shift module and its good.

You could take the actuator off and engage each by hand to test it. If you put it in 4x4 low and it pops out it would be in the T.C. You can do the switch with the truck off, in neutral, with the tires chocked.
