Well my AOD transmission went out just as my BKO was about to hit 200,000 miles. The truck will drive but you can feel it slipping really bad, and it doesnt want to shift but it eventually will, its also making a rythmic sound inside the tranny.

So local shops want around $1800 to rebuild. I have been searching the net for trannys and have found them for anywhere from 1000 to 2000. So what do you think should I just go to a local company or try something off the net. I am sure some of the net trannys are prolly using better upgraded parts, but I am not sure about that.

Heres the ones I am looking at.

1)The best? AOD Transmission - Level 2-Dominator Jr.- Cost $1890

2)AOD Mild Remanufactured Transmission 4x4- Monster Transmission & Performance-Cost $1020

3)Ford/Motorcraft Remanufactured Transmissions-Cost $1079, its a real ford motorcraft part and should be warrantied at ford dealerships.

4) last of all, umm its on ebay, but they are the oldest ebay tranny comapny.
Its the cheapest at $810 after the core fee is returned.

So can anyone give me any tips advise...other companys?????
And what would be a reasonable price to have one of the ones off the net installed locally, an estimate you know.

The ford reman sounds like your best choice of the ones you listed.now if you have an automotive trade school near you and you talk to the trans instructer I'll bet you can get her done for a good bit less .it may not be done fast but it will be right and cheap .

I'm thinkin you are way better off local for when your tranny takes a [email protected] again you can get in there face for warranty repair... Have a friend going thru crap trying to get jasper to fix his POS internet tranny.

My tranny had the exact same problem...got a new AOD installed and out the door for $1188 at a local shop, took 2 days. Plus the shop gave me a 3 year warantee as long as you dont wheel it hard. My AOD lasted me 258,000 miles i figure a new one should last just as long so why not.

As far as what MarrionMorrisonIsGod said I got a jasper put in 4,000 miles ago and very few probs. Make sure you get it at a Jasper certified shop and all work on it for 12 years or 100,000 miles is FREE, cant beat that
