Those that have trimmed their rear 1/4's, can you still use the stock tire carrier? I'm debating putting one back on to hold gas and water cans, but it looks like I might be a little shy of sheet metal for the lower mount:

I still use mine for the spare, but I don't leave it out there while wheeling since I've weakened the quarter some by removing the metal.

I took off like that last 3" of straight metal, left the angled stuff:

Thanks Mark. I trimmed mine flush with the tailgate, so judging by your picture, the lower mount should hang down about 1/8-1/4":

May have to re-enforce the lower part a bit. I'm getting the carrier for free, so if it doesn't work I can try and sell it. :histerica

A quarter panel is the rear sheet metal, they trimmed the rear for better clearance
