I am having work done on my Bronco and the guy tells me my u-joints are going bad. If i get them replaced, should I upgrade to a set of heavy duty ones? If so what would you recommend?
hell yea get heavy duty ones! as far as which ones you can use the search button to see what u joints guys here are running, theres bound to be quite a variety, i personally run the napa heavy duty u joints, but they dont have grease fittings, supposed to be stronger without them. bad part is i cant ever grease em.
I reccomend you do it yourself no matter what brand you get. If you own a vise and a set of sockets, you are good to go, just search and you should find what you need and if you are stuck...after searching (for real, and not just saying it) you will get the help you need.
Grease-able or non grease-able depends on your situation too.
Non grease-able will have a stronger core, but I wouldn't use them if you're in frequent situations where the seals may not stay perfect and let stuff in.
