I have a hissing sound coming from my drivers side floor board/firewall. I hit the search button, and the search button giveth. I assumed that the answer is replacing my brake booster. Seems like a fairly easy fix, and well worth the time and money.

I read that most of the people with faulty brake boosters heard a hiss when they pressed the brake. My hiss actually goes away when I press the brake, and stopping has not been an issue at all. The search button taketh away.

Before I start throwing parts at the problem, are there any suggestions to troubleshoot this? I've read the sticky on silicone vacuum line replacement, and that also appears to be a minimal investment. Is my 84' well overdue for a total vacuum line replacement?

yo izzie,
I ASSume it way past the vac hose service life; so I would change them all incl for the HVAC sys inside cab and in eng bay.

A Vacuum Gauge is a VG tool to use for troubleshooting as well as helping to see how much fuel you can save by not lead footing.
Here is my Vac Leak Testing, etc.

Your post was very informative. It seems like changing the lines is a good plan of attack. Whether it fixes this problem or not, it's still a good idea. I'll re-address once I get some new lines installed.
