So i put a new alternator into today. But my gauge is still like reading 10amps. And i think the gauge is wrong cause because even with the heat on it doesnt effect idling or anything. And nothing appears to be wrong. So either the gauge is wrong or effect or battery is skrewy. i have a 1989 ford bronco 351 btw

Had the same thing happen to me. My volt gauge was reading wrong: http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=197288&highlight=volt so i upgraded to a 3g 160amp. i can feel and tell the difference but i did not see a different in my volt gauge. It still doesn't read right but everything is working and running fine now!

I'm dont know much in the electrical department. All i'm saying is after my new alternator my volt gauge acted the same as well. Maybe a short somewheres, might want to find out where your gauge gets its info from. But i have a 88 351w (same as yours) with the same issue.

Mine reads zero until I slap the dash a few times :toothless. Then it goes up to 14.

ya lol my runs fine. even when its in the red. so i think its the gauge
