Well, how far do you want to go with this? I mean, Sr. Atex just experienced this firsthand. Do some of the obvious prepping, and stay away from water with any depth. What more needs saying? Bronco's don't float, so buy a boat or get ready for some very expensive repairs.
I would appreciate an article like this. Actually i would write it but Im gonna give the bko a break for a few months, try to set a personal record on how long I can keep it running. But i like the wateR as you can see

(i love whorin my pics whenever i get the chance... :brownbag )

You guys ever seen those swamp buggy races? They probably know what to do

Sure they do, be light, have lots of power, and stay on top of the water.

don't think that fits us. Though you can do the simple items everyone should know about.
A couple things come to mind.

1st is what I got for free & any wreaking yard.( a pocket part )
is a dist. boot that came on fords ..Mustangs & others.
Mine from a '80's stang. Its a factory rubber boot that wraps around you dist. helps big time when whomping through the fun stuff!
I hav'nt stalled yet.
But then again I dont go that deep but I have splashed into the water & mudd deeper than some others I've seen that got stuck due to their dist . getting wet.( I know because I saw them trying to fix it )
I also have no fear when going to the local do it yourself car wash & wash my engine throughly getting all the mudd off .
Never had a problem..
but you gotta remember theres more than just your engine!
My Friend matt just flushed his trans because the water came over the tranny fill tube hight Then theres also your trans & tranfer case & axles breathers! Etc etc...

& if you got a nice interior you may want to check those door seals as well?

Me too! I think that would be a great idea. How to waterproof the whole rig...not just the engine. I want to make my waterproof, eventually - and I have not much of a clue as to what all needs to be done. I.E. I know I have to vent stuff...but I don't know what has to be vented.

I am coming up with this on the fly, so if I goof let me know.

Water proofing up to bottom of the doors.

1. Distributor boot.

2. Front and rear axle vent hoses ran to top if fire wall with mini breathers on them.

3. After market premium locking hubs.

4. Transfer case and transmission vent hoses ran to top of fire wall with mini breathers on top.

Water proofing up to bottom of distributor.
5. If this is going to be a recurring theme then remove the carpet.

6. Relocate all interior electronics as high as you can.

7. EFI vehicles take steps to seal the computer.

8. Snorkel

9. remove the thermactic air system, Smog pumps weren’t maid to pump water.

10. EFI engines relocate EVR to top of snorkel, or delete it and EGR system.

11. Remove mechanical fan and replace with a switched electric unit

Water proofing higher than bottom of distributor.

12. Seal the distributor. But you must leave an open ion port. Put a hose on the distributor ion port and run the hose to the top of the snorkel. (purioticly check the hose for obstructions) Or I have heard of people running it to manifold vacuum, but if you do that it will be much harder to seal the distributor.

13. Remove charcoal box/canister purge system, reroute fuel tank vent hose to the top of the snorkel.

14. Reroute all previously extended breather hoses to the top of the snorkel.

15. Build custom sealed instrament cluster.

If you want to go deeper than that, then buy some scuba gear.

Did I miss anything?
Get anything wrong?

Nice write up, sums it up pretty good. :rebelflag
just be careful with removing the charcoal container. sometimes excess fumes are really strong afterwards and you rn the risk of them actually igniting. Friend had that happen on his muscle car when checking for spark.
I'd put a few bilge pumps on the floor too. I got one in my boat and it pumps fast
That was cool!

Great video!! :clap

Hey GACKNAR Why breathers?( I yhink you ment filters on the end of the vent lines)
if so why ?
are you figuring to slow down what ever water might try to get in?
I extended my lines awhile back now but never put .. What did you call it breathers? :goodfinge
what do you mean by breathers :shrug & why? :shrug

No dist. to get wet but is there much else ?
I really don't think you want to dunk a diesel. Cold water hitting that turbo would be a very bad thing.

Yes small filters.

Becouse as a axle, tranny, transfer case, contracts and expands from heat it sucks/blows air in and out of those lines. Not much but a little. Also if you are throwing up mud/splashing water, this will help keep water/mud, or other contaniments out of the hoses.

You dont have to run them, but I wanted to put it in the list becouse I wanted it to be as text-book as posible.
