I have a crap loc in my 8.8 and was wondering if I could weld it to get some traction out of it until I can do the sterling swap? :shrug

can a slip be welded?

you'd probably be better off to put a mini spool in there. the LSD carrier is notoriously weak, so welding to it could be bad.

I kinda figured ... was hoping maybe enough metal spewed in there could just lock up the clutch packs and make it work ... oh well, just a passing thought

do they even make a mini spool for the LSD carrier? and if the carrier is weak, how would mini spooling ti be any better.

also damager, don't forget: 8.8 uses c-clips. you're putting quite a bit more stress on it and its gonna suck if you break an axle

Mini-spools are for open carrier only, they will not work in a LSD Carrier.

If you're going to weld it, remove the clutches if you can, and weld er' up.

I welded the 9" in my Bronc' about a month ago and have had good results, it was an LSD carrier, BTW.

Good Luck with decision.
