6 months ago I purchased my 87 and it has the original radio/cassette player so I started searching online for some classic cassette tapes. They’re not that easy to come by nowadays but have had good luck on eBay and Etsy. Unfortunately, I haven’t even gotten to drive my Bronco yet since we are still getting it up and running after it sat for so long, but it’s still fun to look at old cassettes and picture myself enjoying them while riding around.

Anyway, I was just curious what everyone’s “soundtrack“ is when you get in your Bronco? Like, what’s a song that you enjoy listening to riding around or a song that takes you back to good times with you and your Bronco?

Check second hand stores like Goodwill and the Salvation Army. They usually have cassettes for a dollar a piece.

The one song that really takes me back is "Speed" by Montgomery Gentry. Ironically got my first speeding ticket to that song.

That or "Run", by the King, George Straight.

Mostly i listen to real country, metal, classic rock, anything with a fiddle or harmonica, classic 50s music, and hardcore rap.

So basically nothing on the radio lol

I’ve checked some thrift stores but there just aren’t any cassettes anymore. They still have CD’s and VHS but no cassettes unfortunately.

And you definitely can’t go wrong with Montgomery Gentry and especially George Straight. One of the cassettes I bought was Hank Williams Jr.’s “Rowdy” still sealed.

Typically I'll throw on a playlist on my phone, but there has been one CD in my truck that's been in the radio for a majority of the time that I've owned the truck. Licensed to Ill by the Beastie Boys! Once and a while I'll still kick it on and feel like I'm back in high school.

Also a legendary classic! I’ve seen a few Beastie Boys cassettes on eBay and people are wanting $30-40 for them. Pretty pricey but still very tempting lol. I’d be blasting that with the top off all summer long.

Yeah for some reason I just had in my mind that Hank Williams Jr would be a good choice to listen to just cruising around. I also grew up in the early 90s so I also found an MC Hammer cassette and Vanilla Ice haha.

Born in '88 myself. Owned a bronco since '03 and have blasted plenty of Hank Jr. Never listened to much of MC or Rob Van Winkel, mostly grew up on 61 Country (610AM WDAF out of KC). At night, with a real antenna, I can usually pick up 650AM WSM out of Nashville. On Saturday nights they still play classic country OFF OF VINYL, not computer tracks. Takes me back to the good ol days.

You can get an FM transmitter to run stuff from your phone or MP3 player. I don't know if they still make the tape to AUX adapter but if you want one I think I still have a few in a box somewhere from the walkman days. That is if your phone even has an aux jack anymore lol

I still have all of my cassettes. Hank Jr (Greatest hits, major moves, man of steel, montana cafe, whiskey bent, strong stuff, five-o) Van Halen, Ratt, Metallica, Vern Gosdin, Mel Mcdaniel, Marty Stewart, Dwight Yoakam, Randy Travis, Clint Black and Statler Bros and David Allen Coe greatest hits. I bet my wives Journey, air supply, Sister Christian, Bon jovi is mixed in my case too.

I changed my original stereo out. It was just a radio, no cassette... Can't do that...I too have a ton of cassettes from back in the day... But I went with a blue tooth radio so I can link to my phone... But for me, is the 80s playlist (and Zeppelin) all day long. When I'm out working on it I usually like to start with Sabotage... And it just gets louder from there since hubby put in the rockin box speaker... short trips it's usually Bob fm... They play everything old school...
@BigBlue 94 I didn't think you were that young, I graduated hs in 88...

I used to use the tape deck adapter, then went FM transmitter. Then went RCA to the mini jack, and now just a mini-to-mini headphone jack.

I use a Ram Mounts X-Grip to hold my phone. Much better than the cup phone things. I do have a cup phone thing from Daystar too that is quality.

Yep, just a young whippersnapper! I was 17 when I joined FSB lol. Spent half my life in a bronco! Rode in my first bronco about age 7 or 8, a 74 model, lifted, roadster door inserts and no top. I was hooked!

Yeah no offense, I thought you were an old timer haha! Maybe just an old soul like me. That’s awesome that station plays classic country off the vinyl. Can’t beat the crackle and pops of original vinyl. I still have some Hank Jr and Elvis on vinyl along with some 90s rap haha

Many here think the same way lol. Yup just an old soul who grew up with sticks, tonka trucks, a fishin pole and a bb gun. Had dial-up internet and a rotary phone, and watched hanna barbarra cartoons on a wooden console TV.

WSM has been on the air since October of 1925, and has been the home of The Grand Ol Opry since December of 1925. They are a Class 1-A station with a clear channel of 50k watts. Clear channel means no other station may broadcast at 650 kHz. It can be heard on a clear night pretty much anywhere east of the Continental Divide.

Well, I graduated hs in '85, so it's classic rock, classic country, with some of the more modern stuff. Wife graduated in '89. We have all our cassettes fom back then, all our vinyl, and i've added more.
The '89 didn't have a radio, it was gone, so I put in an am/fm/cd, the '93 has the factory am/fm/cassette in it.
Lots of good stuff mentioned above.
I like some 50s, some 60s, and forward. Grew up on 70s and 80s, with a good bit of 60s thrown in.

There's a Bob fm here, plays mix of everything, from 70s on.
