I always liked that song, but how could I not, it's so much of my childhood....
That general Lee car brings up some memories. In hs, one of the guys in the class before mine, his dad owned a used car lot. So, he was driving different cars to school all the time, until his dad got in a general lee. The only things different were it had no roll cage, and the doors worked, to be street legal. Damn we had a lot of good times in that car.
For a timeline, I graduated hs in '85, obviously now, that show could never even air on mainstream TV.

Yeah, the old bands of the 70s, and early 80s, really made use of that thing called "srereo". Even in the 60s.
The advent of the compact disc probably helped that along. Bands in the old days made use of the full range of sounds from high to low. But, the digital files cannot use the full width that analog can. Some of the highest highs, and lowest lows are cut off. A friend had told me this, and I had kinda doubted it. But, I have an album on both vinyl, and cd, and cassette, auctually. Anyway, having played the vinyl and cd version back to back, on the same system, you can hear the difference.

Yeah, it sounded great. At least if you were sitting in the sweet spot balanced between L & R. Or thru headphones. Anywhere off center & you lost part of the music.

My sister-in-law teaches swing dancing. Our construction company provides support for their off site events. The biggest were on Catalina island, using the Casino Ballroom & several (6) locations around Avalon. We learned for the dances & classes, where almost nobody was in the sweet spot, it was better for us to send both L & R tracks equally to all speakers.

This was one of my setup songs as I fired up each sound system. I always tried to match music for setup to the event, since there are always people around to hear it. Swing dancers usually don't like bluegrass.

They've done some pretty good stuff. Of course, most of us know them from Carmen San Diego. We went to see them live once. We didn't know it ahead, but that was the last show for their retiring bass, Barry Carl. We're glad we went.

Here's their version of "Stand By Me. The guy on our far right is their "drummer". Amazing talent all across the stage.
