want to upgrade my alt on my 85 but not sure which on ei have. I hear the 3g and 2g and that floating around but i don't have a clue to which since i am used to my poncho ( :banghead ) alt that i rebuilt all the time. thanks for th ehelp

uh, there are pictures in that upgrad to a 3G post.
Go look at the pics and your alt and decide for your self.

HINT: you should have a 2G

Hey fireguy, is there any way of knowing how many amps a stock alt puts out? I think I read somthing on here about that but I cant find it any more.

Stock 2G is a 65-75 AMP Alt.
You can remove the alt take it to a re-builder and they can bench test any alt. My 3G was bench tested to just over 160
