Lets get a sticky!!!

It's easy, tell us anything you've done to your Bronco today. It could be as simple as staring at it, or as complicated as finishing a SAS, doesn't matter

I washed mine today, and tried to fix my loose passenger side mirror

Spent the morning pounding t-posts and stretching fence around the garden. Mothers day and all...

Got one knuckle ground down for a chevy backing plate, and all the sharp corners rounded out/off for strength. Backing plate clears by the hair on my chinny chin chin. @Burntoutaccountant is gonna have one sweet rig! The grinding wasnt too bad at all. After the opposite side, comes the fun part... De-rust-and-grime-ification on these and a sterling 10.25.

This is turning out to be a relatively easy swap from 5 to 8 lug, and with a larger inner wheel bearing.

That’sa thing of beauty. Just needs some Eastwood.
Changing those things wrong but fun. Especially the 10.25. I imagine it’s dirty with some grime and a fair amount of rust. Too bad you don’t have a sand blaster. That’s make quick work of it.

my dad is offloading a man sized air compressor. Would make a good tank for sandblasting.

Got the second caliper ground down for the chevy backing plate, decided on an OBA tank location, and started on body mounts on the @Burntoutaccountant bronco.

Why cant ford make a captured nut for the body mounts that actually works!? Even my 08 superduty has a crappy setup. Ive now got a 22mm wrench with a few funky ass bends in it just for my body mounts

Where are you thinking for the OBS tank? I was unsure of where to mount it.

Its going under the rear bed, mirroring the location of the muffler. Kinda cool that they are basically the same size. Will look nice under there.

I was just reading this, before your response, and I was thinking "the muffler location would be a perfect spot for a tank, but where could the muffler go?" LOL

Driver's side "muffler location" for the tank is perfect.

Mine is tucked up between the shocks, but this viair tank is longer than my dual dewalt tanks and didnt fit real nice in that same spot. There is a crossmember right where the floor raises to the cargo bed height. A piece of flat steel will slide in and bolt to it, then the tank will be mounted to that.

You gonna get them powdered?
I think I’m going to do a rough grit bed liner or use the leftover Eastwood paint

Im turning him off of powdercoat...

It looks nice, and is fairly tough, but one chip and you can kiss it goodbye. That chip lets moisture underneath and then it peels. Ive seen it too many times. Even on his basically unused radius arm mounts. And its slick when wet.

A rubberized bedliner provides traction, impact chip resistance, and is able to be touched up with the same product. On something like a slider that is meant to be bashed into things, these are key aspects.

Ive had my superduty bumpers coated with rolled on bedliner for 40k miles now and they are still looking great.

Tore down @Burntoutaccountant 's sterling 10.25 and wire wheeled the whole thing. Look at this mess! I sure do love the simplicity of a full floater.

Also, i dont remember the thread, but this is where a corded grinder beats out a battery powered one. 3 hours of grinding would take a good 10 battery changes. And the corded Metabo never got hot, where the 20v dewalt is quite toasty after one battery.

Eastwood has a rubberized coating but I’m weary of anything rubberized.

Why? Pretty much all bedliners are rubber based. Some moreso than others. Ive always used duplicolor truck bed coating in the blue can. Ive used it on a gator bed, diff covers, truck beds, shotguns, plastic rifle stocks, axles, frames, and who knows what else. Its not a super rubbery soft coating, it dries pretty hard.

Ive only had it fail once, and thats because it was too hot when i applied it. And even then, most of it stuck. And ive hauled axles, transmissions, engines, leaking ps pumps, tree limbs, and all sorts of crap in there. Its still pretty good. Even after ATF and oil pooling in there with kitty litter for a month or so.

Mainly from people undercoating their trucks with a rubberized material and it rotting everything underneath.
