It's easy, tell us anything you've done to your Bronco today. It could be as simple as staring at it, or as complicated as finishing a SAS, doesn't matter

Mainly from people undercoating their trucks with a rubberized material and it rotting everything underneath.
Many of the issues that arise from that is poor prep. You gotta get every bit of prior gunk off. Otherwise, you are sealing crap in and it starts rotting.

And im not talking a rubber coating like plasti dip... Or something called rubberized undercoater. Those are way too rubbery.

Yeah I was mainly referring to the rubberized undercoating. Makes sense on the prep though.

I think they are just a junk product. Soft and porous. The folks using that stuff are just spraying it on after a car wash. The folks using a chassis paint are gonna prep better and use a better product.

I recently picked up a hard rubberized coating product for my bike fenders, on the underside. When it comes to coatings... you can never stress enough, PREP, PREP, PREP!!! ;)

Eastwood has a rubberized coating but I’m weary of anything rubberized.
Like BigBlue said. The rubberized undercoating horror stories are caused by poor prep work. When prepped properly it’s good stuff!!

More work on @Burntoutaccountant 's rig. Rebuilt an aluminum York 210 and cleaned it down to raw metal. Then i cut off the ugly fitting bosses on top and threaded the holes for 3/8 NPT.

He bought the @BoulderBronco BroncoAir kit to mount the york to his current AC compressor. The kit is real nice but isnt a bolt-on affair if you have a saginaw. You could space it off the AC a bit more, but i was concerned with the bolts being long enough. In the end i took it to the bandsaw. Took a couple square inch section out to clear the cap and reservoir.



This engine has a lightning style intake tube, so i cant say how factory fitment would be. Its a bit tight, but i can lower the York just a bit. And since he has a K&N FIPK style air box, the 4.9/7.5 filter box inlet duct still fits. Juuuust barely. With a factory filter box, it wont come close to fitting.



I also spent 90 minutes on the rear passenger side body mount. I cut the head off, only for it to not pound out a single millimeter. Ended up using an air body saw to slice through the bolt and sleeve. The next three took 20 minutes total lol. Just 3 front ones left.

OMG I amazed myself yesterday. My power locks stopped working, so I figured it was a fuse. Went to autozone and bought a multi-pack. Since I was at it I decided to pull/inspect ALL the fuses in the cab. Some were missing, some were blown, etc. After ensuring all of the fuses are correct and good (and the power locks worked again) the most amazing thing happened. The interior dome light works! OMG! Plus the rear cargo light. i've had so many electrical gremlins with this truck that I had given up on those ever working again. Can't believe I never replaced the fuses. Feel kinda stupid, but mostly just amazed that the lights work again.

This is me jumping the starter relay on the side of the road - no belt movement and the starter is just turning the torque converter and not the crankshaft.

Did some painting on a sterling 10.25. Using Eastwood's Platinum Rust Encapsulator. Its one heck of a product. Its loaded with aluminum powder. Great for corrosion resistance. Just dont inhale it if spraying. Gonna get topcoated with their chassis black.

Also made this heat sink for @Burntoutaccountant 's OBA. Started as a 2" diameter aluminum bar about 8" long.



That makes 3 broncos, besides my own, that ill have custom made parts on. One is a spacer for a saginaw, to whom i dont recall. It was a 460 v-belt iirc. And then a PCV catch can on @BikerPepe` 's black 96.

I was just bragging up my custom catch can to a neighbor yesterday, who recently replaced the 460 in his '96... coincidentally. 🍻

In my infinite genius, misdiagnosed the oil pressure sender as bad. EVTM says 74 ohms is low; mine was open on a bench test. Bought a new one and it ohmed at 57K ohms, so thought I was hosed. So decided to put air pressure on the new one, and with just a bit of pressure (regulator set around 40?) it was down to 30 ohms. So put air pressure on the old one and it also works fine. Actually appears my gauge popped a stud loose so it may not be making a complete circuit anymore.

Anyway, short lesson is that on the oil pressure senders for '80's trucks, don't be surprised to see a near open on the bench, and give it a little air pressure to make sure it comes down into range.

Did a little onboard air plumbing today. Gotta make a mount for the tank then it will be pretty much done, except the air locker lines. Fittings and nipples on the York are 3/8 NPT. Used right at 25ft of hose. All the fittings were sealed with Permatex Seal+Lock; thread sealer and blue loctite in one formula. The little filter is an S&B with a 5/8 hole. Cool feature was the inside of the hole was threaded so it screwed right on. Fun fact, 3/8 NPT and 5/8-18 are the same diameter at the wide end of the NPT taper.



He is using this awesome ViAir tank. It has 6 bungs, one each for front and rear output, one for input, one for the drain, one for the blowoff valve, and one for the pressure shutoff sensor.
