My 88 f150 with a c6 looks to have 3 cables that hook tho the throttle body. There are 2 that clearly are the throttle cable and the kickdown. The 3rd mystery cable looks to piggy back on the throttle cable, what is this cabels purpose?

cruise control, goes to driver side fender

Comes from the cruise control servo unit on the drivers side inner fender at the top near the hinge.

well time for a new tranny I don't think the cruse control cable would make a c6 not shift in to 3rd.

did you check and make sure the vacuum modulator A.) has vacuum, and B.) isn't leaking?
