I took the transfer case out of the truck for the first time today. I noticed there is the hole / port in the housing that didn't have anything in it. I am assuming this should be plugged up, just curious what it's for? The paper towel is in the speedo gear hole.

Speedometer cable. Yours currently runs from the C6 I'm assuming.

Indeed it’s a vent.
Okay thanks, I wont cover the hole then! Does yours have a vent hose connected? There is a random hose near the TC that wasn't connected to anything and I couldn't figure out what it was for

I’ve redone it but yes it did. I think there’s a clip near the transfer case top to hold it. I’ll take a pic if I get under there today.

It’s probably 1/8”NPT but hopefully internet can confirm for you.

Is that some sort of fancy speedo upgrade?
Im converting to an EFI 460 and want to source a speed signal for IAC function. I had to clearance some of the cooling fins on the tailpiece for fitment, but think it’ll work. There’s a speedo cable that goes in behind yet but I don’t have it installed.
