initial start up? Hope you broke the cam in correctly unless it is a full roller.

you should not let it idle any, once started you need to crank the engine rpms up to supply enough lube for the cam lobes

its an edelbrock performer plus camshaft. i dont see it anywhere on the paper they included with the cam and lifters

ugggh nevermind i missed this somehow. edelbrock 2167

CAUTION: Change the engine oil and filter before start-up. Do not
allow the engine to run under 2000 rpm for the first half hour. Slow idle
speeds will result in severe cam and lifter wear. Start the engine
and bring to break-in rpm

it was running less then a total of 4 minutes

and thanks bud.. just gotta get a few things before i want to do a cam break in. antifreeze (2 brand new gallons totally disappeared from my garage) and i need a longer throttle cable (mine is too short).

worst thing that can happen is you make a lobe go flat. then you just need a new cam and lifters.

Actually, you need to run it at 2000+ (Usually for 20 minutes) to keep the lifters spinning in their bores. No lifter spin = wiped cam.

Congrats on getting it fired up. It looks and sounds good.

Edit: Don't freak out... it's usually the high lift cams with heavy valvesprings that wipe a cam quick.
