i found an 89 fsb for $500 but its a bronco custom, and mine is an xlt. so what is the difference ?? the bronco is super clean, but it needs an alternator, battery, and heater core. i was thinking i would use it as parts or since it is in better condition then mine, i could put my lift kit and 35 inch tires on it and use my old bronco for parts.... is any of this sound like a good idea?? and with mine being an xlt and the new one being a custom can i even swap parts??

Custom is a basic bare bones model, i think they stopped the line up after 93 and called it a XL then. I'd just go to the junkyard and get a alternator (maybe even a 3g?), find a used battery (hell i get them for trade on a dead old battery at a parts store my buddy owns) and bypass the heater core. Now you have two running broncos, or one to resell for more.

Most of the Custom's I've seen have vinyl floors and seats, and often no trim in the rear area. I have "custom" badges on my 4rd sorta tongue-in-cheek. Most that know FSB's know that the custom was the base model and for everyone one else a 4dr is well "custom".

Here's the brochure from 1990. The packages are probably similar to 89. As mentioned above, the Custom is has less goodies than the XLT.

sweet, sounds good. if i like the custom better, how much of a pain will it be to pull the suspension lift off my xlt and put it on the custom?
