What do you call the chrome hollow ring around the hub on the front wheels on manual lock hubs? It is separate from the wheel and surrounds the hub.

Mine are all rusty and pitted and I need new ones but I don't know what to search for to bring them up.

Thanks

Picture?

Sounds like you are talking about the manual lock hub cap, if that is the case you have to replace the hubs entirely.

I am installing WARN hubs but I don't want pretty, new hubs with my old rusted "whatchamacallits".

Ah, those would have come with the wheels when they were purchased.

If it were mine I would use some navel gelly and clean those up.

I imagine you could get some replacements from the wheel manufature.

They're called "dust caps".
No, they are called center caps. Dust caps are on a 2wd vehicle and they cover the outer bearing on the rotor or drum.

Any center cap that is made by any wheel manufacturer will fit provided they are for a 5 on 5 1/2 wheel.

Here is a place that has them for 10 bucks each http://www.supertruckusa.com/products/92600_X0X_PG.htm

Here is another, 12 bucks each, free shipping http://www.quadratec.com/products/9...utm_medium=compshop&utm_source=googlemerchant

I missed the pic he posted - I read his description as the chrome cap for the locks. They're called dust caps on 4WD hub locks, too.

.

Never knew that, figured it would of been a breakdown of an old full time 4wd hub.

You can peen the bottom edge of the center cap where it meets the wheel to tighten them up so they don't wobble in the rim.
