I was watching the World Series and saw an add for the 04 F-150. Got to thinking if the F-250 would have the old body.
Then I thought about a Light Duty 250 is a 150 body and a Heavy Duty is a 350 body. So what is the point of a 250?????????????

If you want light duty buy a 150
If you want heavy duty buy a 250

I wish trucks weren't a "popular" thing to buy

Rant over

ok, when the new superduty body style came out, you could get 250 light duty that looked like the 150's that came out in 97, and you could get a 250sd that looked like the superdutys. i dont think the 250ld came in 4x4, but i could be wrong. well, ford realized nobody bought the 250ld, so they got rid of it. you can now either get the 150, 150 heritage (looks like the 97-03's) and the super duty's. the 250 is quite a bit cheaper than the 350. springs, axle and frame differences seperate the 250 from the 350.

so, the 250 will still have the superduty body, because there is no 250 light duty.

You could get an F-250 Light duty outfitted just like the F-150, transfer case and all. They had them back in '97 and '98 but when Ford tweaked the nose of the F-150 in '99 the 250 Light Duty option went away. The real question is why does Chevrolet make a Silverado 1500 HD? Even though I hear it is being discontinued though.

now the "light duty" f250 is no more, but it is a upgraded F150

you can get the F150 with the 7700 option, and it gives you heavier suspension, those stupid 7 lug wheels, ect ect. just the same as the f250 light duty was.

they make it more for the guy that doesnt need the big truck, but does more than a f150 has, so they can plow with it, tow a bit more, thats about it.

Really? I thought Ford stopped the 7 lug wheels altogether? I thought they were only produced in '97 and '98?

Another sad thing is that the newer f350's dont come with a Dana 60 any longer.
It has a Dana 50.
I have read that they are about as strong as a Dana44HD axle which was discontinued as far as i know back in the late 70's.

IMHO The F350 should be the F250, and the F450 should be the F350.
But again thats just my opinion.

I have a friend who has a 2001, 2002, and 2003 and they all have D50's.

He has a construction crew and F350's is all they buy.

I am not saying your wrong, there could be geo differences, but this is what i have for data.
