Windshield Sprayers

I did a little bit of searching but I'm still not sure how to remedy the problem. Heres the story. The other night I got some rain-x de-icer windshield wiper fluid. It says do not dilute. So I decided to use up the rest of my wiper fluid before I put this de-icer in. So I run the sprayers untill the stream of fluid got lower and lower. When it was pretty much out I put in the de-icer. I filled it to the top. I go to spray some because I put in a little too much and the thing dosnt spray much. It sprays low and the passenger one dosent spray at all. I decided to spray more and more to try to fix it by just seeing if it would fix itself. the drivers side got a little better but the passenger side still dosnt spray. How can I fix this? I have a 1 1/2 HP compressor so should I blow on the nozzels themselves? or where is the fluid line because I cant locate it. And yes the motor seems to be working just as good as it was before. I can still hear it running. Thanks for the help :thumbup

You did get the anti-freeze Rain-X formula did you ?

If not she'll freeze up and turn to line blocking slush, just like water. Screw Rain-X I dilute mine 1/2 and 1/2 with regular blue (makes a cool purple).

You have to let it build up a film on your windshield for a week or two. At first it'll seem like the worst $h!t you ever used, then after a while you'll see why people use it.

Frankly I've switched back to 1/2 regular blue and 1/2 house brand teflon fluid.

Sixlitre

BTW

The nozzle is easy enough to pop up so you can remove the hose and purge your system, then put it all back together.

How bad can the stealership bend you over the counter for another one anyway. Most NAPA or jobber stores will have them in the HELP section after market if you need one.

Well I pretty much got it because its de-icer now that I live up in the mountians because of school. I dont see how I can easily get access to the damn sprayers because of the cowl. Am I supposed to take that off? or how do I get to the sprayers? I dont have time to take the cowl off before I leave for school again tomarrow. But I really need to get them working asap because theres tons of snow and ice up there now (bad weekend to come back on)
take the line off the pump/ reservoir and flush that way. i would say you had crap in your tank and when you ran it low, the pump picked up some debris and thats whats in your lines. i use that blow nozzle with a rubber tip
You sure you didn't freeze them shut? Try running the engine a qhile, or driving around the block a few tomes to see if it thaws the lines.

Mine will do that sometimes. They'll spray for a minute or so until the lines freeze up then they block off until I've been running a while.

The line pushes onto the nozzle under the cowl. Grab and yank

Are there any type of filtering screens in the washer reservoir that could get clogged. You would think there would be I've never looked at mine.

If yours is like the 1988 you can take loose the wiper motor and get better access to the nozzel end at the cowl. Leave the motor attached to the wiper arms though. Flush the nozzel good, theres probably debris in the nozzel. Especially if one side works better than the other. Blow out the lines while you have it off and clean out the reservoir tank good too if it needs it so it doesn't happen again.
Theres a filter on the top of the resivoir for the windshiled fluid. I dont know how well it works. Better than nothing :shrug

You shouldn't have to pull the cowl at all. The hose comes off of here with a pull down like this;

The squirter pushes up fairly easy out of the cowl. If not then pinch the tangs from below with needle nose pliers as you pry from the top with a blade screwdriver.

Up here sometimes you have to simply just pour a little blues stuff on top of the squirter to un-freeze it, though yours does sound clogged from the hoses.

if there is debris in the line.. use a paper clip and poke into the holes of the sprayer..
His late-model is DIFFERENT.

DON'T stick anything into the spray nozzles, and don't yank on the supply line. Don't use compressed air in them, either, unless you can regulate it down below ~30psi. You should be able to pop the nozzles up out of the valance & then pull the lines off; just don't drop the lines, or you WILL have to remove the wiper valance to get to them. With the nozzles out, try spraying to see if the lines are blocked, and to clear any other debris in them. Then try to blow forward thru the sprayers to clear them. If that doesn't work, use LOW-pressure air (like the cans for a computer keyboard) to blow backward.

I saw this diagram you posted when I was searching. So there is a way to pop the nozzles off from the outside? which way should I pull upwards or back twards the front of the truck? My compressor has an adjuster that shows that it can go from 10 psi to 125, so I will try it at maybe 10 or so. Also another question: Would it be possible to buy some typical sprayers from an Advanced Auto Parts and use those insted of my stock ones. I think some standard sprayers would be less likely to fail than the ocsillating ones which seem to be pretty delicate.
If you look closely where their bases meet the paint, you should find a tiny slot. If you insert a straightened paperclip, you'll compress the locking tab, and allow it to release easier.

I don't know about any aftermarket nozzles. I'd stay with American-made (Ford).

Would I be able to go with say, later model ford sprayers is what I ment.
I don't know anything about later nozzles, either. I suspect they're identical to what you have, though.

Crap, I ment earlier.
