Sounds like you need a new fuel pump if it is running that long. It should not run more than about 5 or 6 seconds.

Let me tell you about a crockadoodoo problem I had on my '91 mustang.

I needed to crank it 45 seconds to start. OK on level / downhill, faded fast up hill. This can be a problem when the Rockies are a mile away.

The problem turned out to be a short dogleg hose inside the fuel tank. Between the pump and the hose to the engine. Fuel pump was fine, but the gas it delivered went back into the tank.

You can't buy just the dogleg hose. It comes in a kit with a high flow fuel pump.

Your problem could be something like that; the beginning of a leak like that. If Ford used the same setup in Broncos.
