i drive on the highway daily for school and i cant seem to use 5th gear whenever i go into it i just sorta lose power and speed instead of gaining and so i have to rev it out in 4th, my truck is a 95bko with the stock 5 speed ,331 stroker, stock t case, gears,axles, 6" lift with 36" iroks why cant i hold 5th gear while cruising?

because you have 36" tires and stock gearing
:stupid

Gear ratio seems to be the only thing not listed in his sig, which leads to me think the same thing.

Uh oh, here it goes, poor dude... Rednek's thread may very well have been one of the first to show up when searched also :rofl:

Ilyst... My guess would definitely be that you have 36" tires with stock gearing.

i have 355 gears now so if i put in liek 410s or 456s it will be better on the highway and have more power to the wheels? which gearing should i run?

Well obviously your 331 stroker isn't putting out 400hp.

If it was, I don't care what gears you have, it would be able to push you on 36's fine on the highway.

Also, what did you do with your EFI to get that 331 to work properly?

Wow.

Gearing like mentioned before.

And if you are putting out 400 horse with the modification listed above and no power adder, then I'm Peter Pan. Here is a tip, stop adding up the manufacturers possible HP increase numbers and head to a dyno if you don't mind being ashamed.

maybe you sould be going faster before you put it in overdrive.... than it won't be doggin out. should do better than that with 400hp though. my 83 LTD has 31s (stock had 25s) on the back with 3.08s and can run down the highway in overdrive.. the 302 its got must have 500hp:rofl:

This chart and the thread it is in helps a lot, read the thread. I would choose 4.88 gears. Others would say 4.56. You'll be a little quicker off the line with 4.88, but likely not as fast on the highway.

yea i kinda been over the fact that its not 400 hp but thats what the engine builder otld me and i know why its cuz my computer isnt compensating for it and so i have to swap my whole computer system and i need injectors so thats why and im saving up for that now then hopefully it will be close to 400 i "hope" but yea im still figuring out the whole 331 stroker thing and how to getit right i am now also saving up for 456 gears

You need to either go mass air, or go aftermarket SD.

Look at what tmwalmart is doing with hers for ideas on how to deal with a stroked motor. If you need bigger injectors, you're gonna need to do something with the computer.

You're risking burning up that motor. Your mechanic is a ****ing idiot, stop going to him. He's an idiot for not knowing shit about Ford EFI, and not knowing shit about motors to begin with if he thinks that thing puts out 400hp. He's lying to you something fierce, and taking your money.

Stock is actually 26"-27" depending on exact tire. I got 29s on my Lincoln, with deep offroad tread too, complete with tungsten studs for traction on ice (and for putting out a spark show on concrete/tiles), and I have absolutely no issues getting this 4500-lbs barge up to speed where the speedometer points at "P" on the gear indicator :shocked So yes, I agree with both the low engine power and the wrong gearing statements
