I did not get anything for the bronco but got some parts for a 302 that I am trying to make look older with 260 parts,last weekend I got the timing chain cover with the oil fill tube along with the PCV system and no hole valve covers from a 63 galaxie. Since the 63 had p/s and a/c it had multiple groove pulleys that I also took but will not work on the project I am gathering parts for so I found the last pair of single groove 289 pulleys a local old junkyard had,I had to walk the whole yard (60 acres?) and look at everything that could have a 289 or early 302.
what kind of vehicle are you building that you want your engine to look like a 260? my 64 comet has a 260 in it, but it had (what I think was) california emissions. pcv tube in passenger valve cover and the oil filler cap on the other has a hose running to the air cleaner.

I mainly got the early timing chain cover in case I got the adapters to put Y block valve covers on it and have a place to put oil in it and with the early pump I can put it in a mid 50s ford that originally had a six and would not have to change radiators. I was also thinking about putting the motor in my 37 Chevy p/u and just want to make it look older then a 90s motor.

Not today, but yesterday (because I had the day off) I found an 86 bronco. 2nd bronco I've ever seen there in the 3-4 years I've been prowling this yard. This particular bronco had a fuel injected 4.9 installed. Must have had an automatic that was already gone, but there was still a set of clutch pedals, which I took. I also got the driveshaft and the gas tank skid plate. There was an interior spare tire mount, but I broke my T50 socket trying to get it out. F'ing thing....
I also found an explorer with GT40 heads (3 bars), but I didn't pull them. Next time. There was also a chevy K20 with a dana/gm 10 bolt front axle that someone could use the knuckles out for an 8 lug swap.

Got a mid 90s manual trans starter for when the 351-W goes in my 66 F100 if I decide to go with a manual trans and picked up a p/s bracket for it too,I never thought that I would have a hard time finding 70s parts. The 66 right now has a 77 460 with all that era brackets on the motor and the local old yard has been about picked clean of those parts,I had most of the brackets and p/s pump from a early 70s 351 but none to be found and only two with the mid to late 70s style brackets and had to look at everything that could possibly have what I needed. None of the pull and pays had anything that old.

Went back to that yard and got the complete p/s brackets and pulley from a 70 galaxie with a 351 along with the throttle cable bracket and intake bolts,I found another 70 in that yard with a 351 and will be going back to get a bunch of parts off that motor to keep in stock.

Saturday was cold, windy, and threatening rain, so I didn’t spend too much time at my usual hangout. But I did find a D60 housing cover for $5, and I talked to the guy there about pulling a set of 2wd superduty radius arms for me to pick
up next weekend.

I also spent more time pulling things off that explorer with the gt40 heads. If the weather and exhaust manifold bolts cooperate, I’ll have them off next weekend. For as many miles as the odometer shows, the rockers and lifters look to be in decent shape; nothing loose, no sludge.

5 bucks is cheaper than I could have shipped mine to ya lol, nice. It's prolly good we don't have and yards here, or id have so much stuff tucked away...

My wife has started asking me “what did you get” when I come home now. And also says “you’re just like the pickers” because I will save things that shouldn’t get torched or crushed.
Our garage is getting full of things.
I have lots of vehicle parts that I may never use, but someone could.
I also buy things that should never have been thrown away, like a blacksmith vise, old wood handled hi lift jack, pulleys, gears flywheels from old farm equipment, and old hand crank drill press, cast iron cookware.... this list goes on and on.

I am thinking that I am becoming a parts hoarder,sunday I bought some parts just to get a electronic distributor for the 351-W that is going in my 66 F100. Along with the distributor was a set of heads,flywheel and other small parts that I will most likely keep for future projects.

Didn't find them in a junkyard, but located a set of Lund Widesides (fender flares) while I was buying a bronco tailgate. I think I'm going to go back and buy them. I don't have a truck to put them on, but hopefully I can sell them and make some money.

Hoarding Tales: Chapter One

Not bronco related, but junkyard related.
As mentioned above, if I find something useful at the junkyard that someone has thrown out, I buy it at scrap prices.
I don't even remember when, but someone had thrown out a sledge hammer head; maybe 8lbs
The other day at Farm & Fleet, I finally bought a handle and wedge kit for it.
Tonight, I built myself a sledge hammer.
Not sure what a good 8lb sledge sells for, but I have about $18 in this one.

Edit: apparently a new 8lb wood handled sledge sells for about $20 at the same store. Oh well.

Rubber is still in really good shape, I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it or sell though.
If it matches keep it, they are great to have. Can't remember if they are still being sold. I've cleaned up two of them with degreaser from other suvs.

Found a set of aluminum diamond plate 8ft bed rail caps and tailgate cap up on the shelves at work. Uncle said he didn't need them so I got them for free. 15 bucks in paint and they will match my black toolbox on my 96 f350.

I have a rougher set of rail caps as well that I'm gonna cut up and use on the bronco when the top is off.

LOL. There are many like it, but this one is yours. I found a 20lb sledgehammer head at a yard sale a few years back, hadn't seen one in forever. Bought a hickory handle for it. What a beast. Takes a real man to swing it but takes care of business real fast. As a matter of fact I need to replace the handle again. My boys take turns trying to swing it when they and their friends are bored. When they mis-judge the distance they end up smashing the handle right below the head. They nick-named it the Master Key.

No new trucks at the junkyard this week. After wandering around for a while, I brought up the "3G, it wins again" thread on my phone and looked for vehicles that have the 130A alternator. I spotted a 94-96 Tbird with a V6 and got myself one... just in case.

This is what my research last week yielded Andy:
94-96 Mustang V6
95-96 Windstar V6
94-95 Mustang 5.0
94-96 Thunderbird 3.8 V6 non SC
93-96 E/F series trucks vans 4.9L V6

Just got back from a u pull in KCK

Scored two swivel seat bases out of an 80s econoline. Also pop out vent windows for all four barn doors. Got a mirror for the one I 'lost' in denver too. Also found a much better doghouse console.

For the f350 I found a 4.9L/7.5L intake tube.

Also got a dash vent to replace one in the van. Pulled a bunch of maxi fuses. Also managed to find 3 door keyhole protectors off of an old ford conversion van. I remember someone wanting them.

Walked out for $101.32

My goodness I think I saw ten vans/trucks powered by the 300-6. I thought about pulling the sag brackets off, but had too much else to do before the heat set in. Most of them were efi. And no underhood tool boxes.
