New steering discovery

I had a wheel bearing issue on my front driver side. I fixed that problem and after everything was back together with the wheel still jacked up, I did some rocking of the tire. I do this everytime I have the wheel off the ground. You can check for loose wheel bearings, ball joints and what ever.

Everything seemed tight. Then I just happened to look down the length of the tierod while rocking the tire side to side. Much to my surprize, I could see the tierod bowing in and out. Let me be clear. The tierod ends are tight. It was the rod bowing between the pitman arm and the pax side tire.

Here is the view I had. I wish I knew how to do video.

In any case, obviously I have allot of leverage on 38" tires. But I didnt really feel like I was pulling that hard. I'll bet that one of you guys with stock tires could do it. I certainlly think that uneven road surface could cause the tire to "steer" around. There is a thread in the tech section on heavy duty tierods. I was going to wait untill my tierods went bad to do this upgrade. But now I'm going do it soon. I would like someone else to try this and report back. If any one has done the upgrade, please try it also. I'm going to see if Kingfish has tried this. (he wrote the upgrade thread)

PS: I freaked out when I looked at this pic because I though the frame was cracked. (I had a crack on the other side of the frame awhile back) This one was just a scratch.

When I said other side, I ment the other side of the rail, not the other side of the truck. It cracked by the steering box.

It flexed between the pitman arm (steering box arm) and the pax side knuckle. I think because both ends are fixed and the drivers side tierod pushes (or pulls) in the center is what makes it bow.
