hello all,

just a few technical question on setting the 10 BTC that hopefully someone can help me answer.

1. Why does the truck need to be started off at TDC before starting it and adjusting the distributor cap? I guess my question,... is can i adjust the timing without starting off at TDC? Whats the purpose?

2. If my current timing is at lets say 6 BTC, will turning the cap clockwise or counter-clock wise bring it to 10 BTC?

3. Last question, once i set the timing and turn the truck off, Will adding the spout back on mess with any of the timing? Like auto adjusting it in the future or is that just going to create a new timing in the system that i just set.

Thank

I think I can address your questions:

1. It does not need to be started at TDC to adjust timing. However, if you are installing a distributor, you should always turn the crank manually to TDC so that you can "stab" the distributor and be sure it is facing the number 1 position.

2. The rotor rotates counter clockwise, so if you rotate the distributor clockwise, the connection will occur sooner - advanced.

3. No, regardless of the spout, the base timing won't move unless the distributor moves on its own (loose clamp-down bolt).
