Anyone have any pics of a 92-96 Bronco with 15x12 rims. I dont care about tire size I just want to get an idea of how much more they stick out (Based on the proper backspacing which is arund 3.75" I think ). In the pics sections I didnt see any.

sorry for digging this thread up, but i saw a rig on 12" rims the other day and took some pics to show everyone why a 12" rim and a 12.5" tire doesn't really work:
Image

notice how the wheel is actually wider than the tire?
Image

notice how the bead is also just hanging out, waiting to get caught on something. this is a 35x12.5 BFG
Image

heres my 10" wheel. notice how the bead is tucked in farther?
Image

its also quite a bit more protected.

i see a lot of people out here who run 12" wheel because they are "cool", but what you must realize that air is the only thing holding your tires bead out that far. on narrower rims, where the tire sits on the wheel is more like the natural state of the tire when its unmounted/has no air pressure. also, don't forget that if you wheel it, the bead will be that much more exposed to danger...

12 is crazy for only a 12.5 tire. if you are only going to be running a 12.5 wide tire, you only really want a 8" wide rim, 10" rim does alright, but once you air it down, you will be leaking and blowing beeds more often than if you had a 8.

with all due respect, you must be outside yo freakin mind! I run 33x12.30s on 15x8s and the truck will damn near change lanes without touchin the wheel. I run them at the suggested pressure and sidewall movement is scary when the wind starts blowing, or when you go to change lanes, basically anywhere you are required to turn the steering wheel :wacko

As a general rule i would keep your rims not more than 2" narrower than your tires. I have a set of 15x12's that I'm mounting my 33" dunlops on (13.25 actual section width) hich should handle decent on the street and still be able to air down (which is why I bought 12.50's, so I wouldn't have to air down) Maybe you guys with the BFG's have a section width that is smaller than advertised, like 11.50 or 12.00... my dunlops are almost an inch wider than advertised :shrug

(ps, I used to sell tires for a living, don't preach to me about how to measure the section width of a tire)

i had absolutely no problem whatsoever running 33*12.5 or 35*12.5 on 15*8 rims. the only reason i switched to 10" wide rims was to get the tires a little further away from the radius arm to help with my turning radius.

oh, and i dont recall SizeMatters ever saying that he was going to be using them on 12.5" wide tires....

dont shoot the messanger. lol. im not shure what to think. i herd this outcome from the mailing list from a local 4wheeling club. what was said is the 10" rim with the 12.5 tire doesnt air down to 10psi well, it will leak on you and is more likly to loose the bead. just what ive herd.
