Alright, I know this isn't a very technical post, but I thought I'd ask anyway before I break out the tools and start screwing stuff up...

Anyone remove their aluminum tailgate trim panel? I want to remove the one on my '87, but not sure how it's fastened to the tailgate. Is it held on double sided tape, like the bodyside molding, or is it held on by the old style steel posts protruding from the body?

I lighty pried at it with a screwdriver, but couldn't see what's holding it on. Do you have to take off the inside tailgate panel to remove the outer trim piece?

Any help would be mucho appreciated... Thanks!

Yes, you have to open the access panel, partially extend the window(left latch must be in closed position for window to work)and remove several nuts. Double sided tape is also a possibility around the outer edge
