Bronco
Bio:
I am the second owner of this vehicle, my grandfather originally purchased it new and I have spent the majority of my life in this vehicle. I remember sleeping in the back of it on road trips as a child, and sitting in the passenger seat playing with his CB stuff as he drove through what seemed to me at the time as some of the most aggressive terrain ever when we went through his land. He had promised it to me and kept he kept his word. Sadly, it sat for a couple of years in a enclosed shelter before I got it and needed freshened up. The engine fired up great but the transmission didn't come to par for my grandfather, so to be on the safe side he rebuilt the transmission before he gave it to me. Of course, it made a ten hour trip perfectly after driving in around town for a few days. Still just as reliable. When I got it home the first thing I did was full ignition tune up (Sixlitre tune-up) and Seafoamed it. Now it has had a slow restoration into it's more or less original state but with added goodies.

Primary Purpose:
  • Daily Driver w/ amenities
  • Snow "dune" hopping
  • High-speed dirt/sand running

Specs:
  • 1991 Ford Bronco XLT
  • 302/5.0
  • E40D
  • D44 TTB/8.8 w/ 3;55 gears
  • Scarlet Red w/ Colonial White two-tone paint
  • "Porno red" interior, full XLT with every available option.
  • External tire carrier

Completed:
  • Rustoleum interior
  • Sound deadener
  • Re-carpeted
  • "New" OEM steering wheel
  • Warn Premium locking hubs
  • Pacesetter headers
  • Catco Y-pipe
  • Sixlitre tune-up
  • K&N Drop in
  • "New" E4OD, under 50k miles, rebuilt before put in.
  • Installed BajaHid.com HIDs. (TCM GLX)
  • Various odds and ends in replacing worn and aging parts.

I'm trying to keep this thread clean, so please, no dicking around. :thumbup

For two dollars, I did a quick sandblasting of my Pacesetter headers:

Next up, ceramic coating paint and a oven I can use! That or I'll just have a shop do it...

But these should go nice with my Catco I want to order once I get my paycheck in...

I need headerbolts and gaskets though, anyone got links to quality ones?

Oh... Snap. Guess I'll replace that. <_<

I also scored one new, perfect condition(dusty/dirty) steering wheel (F-350 by the way, it feels heavier I think) for 5 bucks. Mine had gotten gritty and then ripped, so it's currently has no leather on it... Just need to install this when I'm done being lazy: (Literally, 3 minutes to do lol)

On a camera waiting to be uploaded.

It's my parents camera, and they don't like me using it. Nor do they like me doing anything to my truck, so all my parts, tools and assorted items have to be in my truck at all times. I have maybe a few parts in my room. It's a pain being a full-time college student, part time minimal wage working minor with strict parents. But I'm not going to complain. XD

What part of "minimum wage job" and "minor(inexperienced ect...)" didn't you understand...

J/k...but seriously AJ, good luck been there done that...

Pterodactyl actually guys.

I realize what Gacknar said about regretting taking pictures, I regret it already. :whiteflag

Anyways, my dear old mum said she uploaded everything, so now it's time to search the computer for it or ask mom when she's up in the morning, I'll be at Metro from 7AM to 3PM, and then 5PM to 10PM working. 4Pm get's to be getting home and getting ready for work... But damn'it, I'm going to start being a picwhore! :rockon

Though... Headers, bodylift (Oh well Marc XD)and Intake Manifolds are for sale, Since I opted for a 351w route, the headers won't fit right (most likely) and I don't want to lift my truck at after all, and the intake manifolds are for a 302/5.0.

Oh and I get paid Thurs. So I dump a 100 in my truck to fill it up,:banghead and then what to save up for first hmmm...

I'm leaning towards manual hubs, since winter is fast approaching, and then gears, I want to buy the gears and have them ready to install after winter...

Please explain your "better mileage" statment. Are we talking 2/10ths of a mile difference here, because once you start taking a smaller engine and warming it up to compete with bigger engines you can generally throw mileage out the window.

To the original poster, if you are actually building a Bronco, and want to have a build thread for either historical purposes, or for educational purposes, maybe you should take some of that first bit of saved cash and buy a digi camera. They aren't that expensive and then you won't need to rely on anyone elses. It'll make yours and your parents life easier.

2010 5.0 doesn't exist.

If you're talking about the 2011 5.0, well... they're okay, but they're WAY down on bottom end torque. It's a heavy-breathing motor with a 7100 RPM redline. It doesn't really start pulling until about 3,500 RPM, but when it hits that it's like hitting the nitrous bottle. Can't tell you how often it started pulling hard then once I hit about 3,500 it ripped the tires loose. :goodfinge

Seriously, though- a 5.8 Windsor would be a better fit for a big truck like this. You can get the same numbers with a 5.0, but it's WHERE those numbers come into play that counts. A 5.8 with less top end power would be better since most of that truck is going to be 3,500 RPM and below anyway.

Unless he wheels like I do, in which case he'll be bouncing off the rev limiter every chance he gets.:rockon

KAPOW!!

Yeah, my own camera would be an asset, but I try and buy the bare minimal.

I got up this morning and decided to take a drive while it was still dark out, I had my mom's camera with me so when it got lighter I snapped some pics...

Oh and this guy is fixing some overheating problem in this Bronco down the road for a friend, the thing is, he's had it for like 2 months now... I told him about FSB though.

Here's my bedlined interior:
Image

Image

The entire tub is bedlined, I like Rustoleum because it's not too rough, still has a texture, and easy to clean. Let it cure and it's fairly indestructible. Easy to touch up if need be.

Plus, that's my free bull guard I get to decide if I want to install it or not, if so, I need to figure out how exactly. It was on a bricknose Bronco years ago...

Picked this up out of an old farm truck that is just rotting away in the fields from some land on my (step)father's family property.
Image

I'm pumped since it matches my rims and will replace the gay Ford Steel spare rim.

Found my seat covers from my old S10 Blazer, they fit snug but I think they may fit better if I took the arm rests off, can't use them now anyway... They unbolt off right? Oh and I have a matching bench seat! :thumbup

If anyone shows any interest in Nebraska pics and crap, I'll buy a Camera on craigslist per Pfun's suggestion and just take pics of all I see, maybe take pics of my exciting (not) drive to school.

Because I have pics of work done, but none of the process. Hence my regretting not taking pictures. I have limited windows of opportunity to work. I do my work in parking lots man. I'm not able to use my folk's garage or the driveway, or the road there. Both cops and folks won't allow it. So I find a secluded parking lot somewhere. The bedliner I waited until my parents were away for the weekend on a vacation and I bedlined it then let it cure for three days.

Very strict, very protective, very loving, very disapproving of my truck, very disapproving of me doing work on, very much against alot of things.

I've had many issues but I try to more or less respect my parents because that is who they are. I made this thread so I could keep track of what I wanted to do and get advice.

Anyways, I get paid today! :D

i dont understand who this is for but if your auto hubs work fine then id just stick with them. they might even be better in the winter cause you wont have to engage or disengage them every morning. plus right now you have plenty of other things that money could be spent on.

:shrug

I dunno, my mom said she uploaded them but I can't find them, she's not anymore forthcoming with anything and when you upload images, you can click a tab that deletes them off the camera as they upload and she always clicks that so no more on the camera... I had to get up at 6am to have enough time to borrow her camera...

I need to buy 4 tires for the Honda (100 bucks used on Craigslist for almost new tires) and the Premium.
I can't borrow their camera anymore really... Too much trouble. Checking Craigslist for a used digital camera.

Had an emergency today with my girlfriend, so I bailed on classes and called in emergency for work...

I might have a camera for you...It's nothing special, but it works and will do video. $20 and it's yours.

you arent gonna get 35s to fit without alot of modification. heres ol nassty's

http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/762329/fullsize/100_1300.jpg[img]
there only 2 inches taller than 35s and he can barely move. depending on how wide your tires are your gonna have to do serious body modification (i mean like cutting wheel wells and takin a chunk out of your interior) and maybe even suspension modification. but if ya want long travel ur gonna have to ditch the rear leafs.
