So I got three gauges I put in and none of them work, they are all of the electric type, ya ya ya you should buy mechanical, well whats done is done and I dont feel like running oil and tranny lines into the cab. Any way...one of them is an oil pressure gauge which when connected just pegs all the way over to 80psi and then the stock one stops working, if i unplug it the stock one works again, both are hooked up to a stock pre-86 sender. The other 2 are trans temp and oil temp and I checked all the wires and what not but i still get nothing, I do have the wires run through a quick disconect plug as they are in my new center console. Does anyone have any ideas, cause im stumped? Thanks

Sounds like a wire is grounding out some where. Check your comman connections and power source. I would go back over the wireing and try to get one gauge at a time working. Also try running temporary jumpers from a good power source to the sender and from the sender to the gauge and grounding the other lead from the gauge. dont hook up the gauge lights yet get the simple stuf to work first than worry about the lights.

the new guages should be using thier sending units, they are different than the stock sending unit.

electric Autometer gauges have to use Autometer sending units, the factory sending unit will not work for the Autometer gauge, and the Autometer sending units want work for the factory gauges.

Thanks for the tip, i will switch that one out.

Also, i ran new wires for the other 2 gauges, since they are new sensors. I guess the only way to know is to run a jumper wire and see if they work.
