X pipe or Y pipe?

 

Your original post sounds confusing, but if you loosen the bolts to your header flanges you might be able to move the exhaust enough to clear your bell housing with a pry bar or similar.

 

You can dimple the pipe if need be. Engine masters did a test years ago where they dyno'ed an engine and then took the headers off and beat the hell out of them with a hammer, it lost virtually no power and the AFR hardly changed either.

 

Sorry for any confusion, gents. Technically, it is an X pipe. It is shaped like a white pipe, but has an X crossover in it. It is a cat-less dual exhaust.

 

That helps my confusion a little but a picture/drawing is worth 1000 words.🧐

 

I think ill go w steveo’s suggestion. I had considered this before I posted, but just needed a little nudging from the group.

 

LMR lightning section. 92-95 Lightnings had the 5'ate just like my bronc/f150 project. I have been watcing LMR since I purchased the Bassani setup. The equal length headers are no longer produced, and the cat-less y pipe is also long gone. I got lucky. Im glad I didnt sit on my choice too long

There have been multiple tests comparing Single and Dual exhaust set-ups on our vehicles and the correctly sized Single exhaust out flowed a correctly sized Dual exhaust in Torque and HP, just throwing it out there for Informative purposes only!!!! What you presented though was a Uniquely designed Dual set-up!

 

Im definitely impressed w my setup. Bassani equal length shortys and the x-pipe, gibson stainless di/do 3" chambered x muffler dumped just behind the cab. My .530 lift, 262/270 duration cam makes that setup sing!

I have a dual setup on my 94 that breathes through the same x muffler, but it's limited by the stock cam. I will hafta take a pic and post back here someday.

 

Okay. This is on my 94 graytruck. The frame had to be notched on the passengers side to clear the shorty header flange. Iirc, this was a ford exhaust n i cant recall where i bought it
