Ok,
when I put it in drive, it takes like 7 seconds for it to engage and start moving. It was rebuilt by a local trans shop last year. It shifts fine and theres nothing wrong with it, just takes so long to engage, reverse is fine, also when I go to shift it into drive, if I don't put it into D just right, I have to wiggle it a little and then it engages too. So 2 issues, no biggie. BTW, its a 78 F150 4x4.

The man who rebuilt it just passed away earlier this year .:banghead but it is my friend who owned the truck at the time and I know how cheap he is and most likely he didn't replace the pump, just the seal around it. but the thing shifts just finem it's just when I put it into drive, like I said reverse is fine.

You probably wouldn't notice any problem with it shifting while driving because the pump is up spinning at a higher rpm. It takes longer to engage in Drive because the engine is just idling when you put it in gear, so the pump isn't spinning very fast. The tranny will behave much the same way if it gets low on fluid. had that problem before. I'd say it's probably the pump.
