I have a 1988 5.8L and it has some problems. I have already replaced the two fuel pumps, and the fuel filter as well as the relay and it's still there. The engine bogs down or fails to allow me to gain any speed whatsoever. It will run fine for a couple of minuets and then start to not allow me to give it any gas and then shut off. Anyone think its a bad Cat? TPS? need help thanks.

That's hard to believe...but it could be a bad cat, or a vacuum leak. I would suggest pulling your spark plugs and seeing what they look like, compare them and keep up with where each one come out of.

New parts does not mean good parts these days. Rent a fuel pressure tester to verify the fuel pressure is correct.Too many times others have thrown the parts cannon at an issue to find out some of the "ammo" were duds.

Yo Zerbie,
Welcome to our DIY BIG Bronco community!
See my Vacuum leak test in post #11 includes jowens1126 HVAC Control Panel info @ Help with dtc codes and idle
Excerpts:
When vacuum leaks are indicated, search out and correct the condition. Excess air leaking into the system will upset the fuel mixture and cause conditions such as rough idle, missing on acceleration, or burned valves. If the leak exists in an accessory unit, such as the power brake, the unit will not function correctly. Or Air Conditioning when in MAX mode may switch to Defrost.

I'd check your ignition system also, make sure distributor is advancing properly. Sounds like your flooding it out. A little more info would help, does it ping before shutting down? Can you feather the pedal to get Rev up, Is it different in park vs drive, under load? I'd start with distributor pick up and possibly check ecu capacitors. Vac leaks and solenoid failures tend to cause stumbling and roughness vs shutdown as well as throw codes, fuel issues tend to prevent starting and idle issues more than accel. Very rare to have plugged exhaust and would usually cause power loss or no start, not stalling on acceleration. My gut says electrical.

Noted, once I replaced the fuel pumps it no longer shuts off and idles fine but I can rev it all the way to the floor in the park, not while I'm in gear, it loses response at about half throttle. It runs a lot better ever since I turned the A/C off which also makes me believe it could possibly be electrical, alternator maybe?
