Hey guys! First time poster. Long time reader and user of the information and knowledge spread on this site! Has helped me immensely for my own bronco!
My model is 1988 5.8 v8 351w efi xlt.
Recently Ive hit a snag
First let me go over all of the work done so far.
All new ignition system including:
Wires, plugs, coil, distributor cap, rotor, pick up coil and ICM. I set timing to 8°BTDC SPOUT off, have tried a couple other timings and none have run as smooth.
New fuel system including: in tank pump, high pressure rail pump, reservoir filter. Voltage checked on all and they're great. As well as refurbished the tank. Full clean and seal.( inside was cleaned with miratic acid then rinsed, dried and vacced out)and reseal all holes with JB weld steel stick which was a god send. Exterior flex sealed and new vibration dampening pads for bottom scrape plate between tank and plate.
Now I've been perusing the forums here and are deciding its time i replace my IAC and TPS
Issues are no first gear acceleration below 2500 rpm it moves but there isnt the kick i damn well know there should be. Im not expecting burning rubber but I shouldn't be rolling into it to get it up to full throttle correct?
Also it climbs hills but when more power is requested due to higher load it won't kick up a gear whatsoever, unless it drops some k/hr then it will briefly but go right back to the same gear shortly after and so on. Never maintaining 100km/h uphill.
I grew up with this truck and am currently using it as my daily. End goal is to refurbish it and bring it back to old or better glory days.
P.S I took the PCM out and inspected it and cleaned it up. No burns. No blown capacitors or other electronics. Trans has fluid and shifts normal and fairly smooth. Definitely going to take it in the near future to a trans shop as i have no idea what I'd be looking at.
P.S.S all of this work and other work is inevitable and I plan on doing everything. Just over time and in the best order. This truck sat for a good long while before i started working on it and its already 100% better then it was. (Now my daily, wouldnt start when i got it.)
Any thoughts or criticisms are welcome! If you feel something here was wrong or I could do something better etc. Im more then willing to listen. This forum has helped me get as much done as I have.
